Governor Attends 211th Bhanu Jayanti, Honors Cultural Heritage and Literary Icons

Today Honorable Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur participated as Chief Guest in 211th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration organized at Bhanu Udhyan, Gangtok. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr. Prem Singh Tamang also had a dignified presence on this occasion. In addition to this, Hon'ble Ministers, Loksabha MPs, MLAs, High Officers, Public Representatives, Literature Lovers, School children also participated in the function. This year's 'Golden Jubilee of Sikkim and Golden Achievement of the Nation' Stayed dedicated to the slogan.
On this occasion, the Governor paid tribute to the first Padmashree honored writer Mr. Sanu Lama, saying that his demise is an irreparable loss to Sikkimi Nepali literature and culture. During the ceremony, Hon'ble Governor paid tribute to Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya by garlanding the statue.
In his address, the Governor said that language is not just a medium of communication, it is the identity of our civilization, culture. When we respect mother tongue, we honor our past and direct our future. He described Bhanu Jayanti not just a celebration, but a symbol of linguistic unity and cultural heritage convener and nounced cultural revival to the contribution of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya ji.
The Governor, highlighted the social, cultural and economic growth of Sikkim that Sikkim has achieved remarkable achievements in these five decades after becoming the 22nd state of India. He called for the people to take a pledge to further strengthen the spirit of unity in diversity.
On this occasion, the Governor also appreciated that the traditional dress is being encouraged in various government offices, which symbolizes connection with our cultural roots. The Governor appealed to all to continue this tradition.
Finally, they have congratulated Nepali Literature Council, Sikkim on the success of this event.
